We moved up to Grantham in the very early 1980’s and fell in love with this lovely Fosters semi on the Manthorpe Estate. It has been our family’s home for the last 36 years, and the only home our children have known. When we had our third child in 1992, we decided to extend the property over the garage, taking it from a three bed home to a five bed, so everyone could have their own room (plus a spare for our guests from down South). However, as the boys got older, we took one wall out on the landling, and made a huge hall / landing, like playroom and for them to do their homework.

We changed our windows six years ago to Anglian. They weren’t the cheapest, but all our friends rave about them and the security features are brilliant and give you great peace of mind at night!


Our favourite room is the dining room and the almost open plan thru kitchen, which we had Howdens put in a lovely solid oak door limed wood units, only 4 years ago. We particularly adore the feeling of space and light between the two rooms and the ability to open the French patio doors onto the patio in the Summer ……The summers we have had as a family on that patio will live with us forever, especially as its South West facing, all of us stopped up late too many times to mention to watch the sun go down with the distant glow on the horizon as the kids ran races around the large grassy garden.

Our perfect neighbours are sublime. The right balance of helping other out whilst keep the right amount of privacy. The road itself has a solid sense of community, and we have loved being part of the lives of many young families close by.

But now we are in our 60’s and just retired. Our children have fled the nest and we have decided to move to a Fosters bungalow on the same Manthorpe Estate, a 3 bed bungalow, so when the kids come back, they have a bed to stay!

So what’s the point of all this?
