What is it with
estate and letting agents .. you love to measure things.
The more stats
and KPI’s you have ..the more you think you need.
You measure
everything from Viewings, to offers to sales to exchange .. and so you should.
.. yet, just
as passionately, you over-consume yourselves over numbers of followers on
Facebook, the number of likes you get, the number of people reading your posts.
And yet we
often forget to take stock of the things we are proud to have done and the ways
we have made a difference.
.. a
difference to the lives of our colleagues, our landlords, our vendors, our
family, our friends.
Stop fretting
about the numbers .. just for half an hour. They will take care of themselves... anyway .. its the 1st of the Month .. they are reset to zero anyway.
Get a piece
of paper and make a list of the things you are proud you did over last year.
You hitting your
targets in May is great .. but it doesn’t make you proud. Stuff like that can be
measured in numbers wont make you proud.
But helping a
friend through an illness and getting out the other side is something you can
be proud of. Helping a colleague pass their ARLA example with flying colours is
something you can be proud of. Helping your children grow and florish is
something you can be proud of. Training up a Neg to be good enough for a
Valuers role is something you can be proud of.
… but
smashing your Quarterly target? Nice ..
but it wont make you proud.
The stuff you are selecting to overlook
in favour of what it seems important to know, are more formidable than you
realise.
